Here on “Tracks”, there is a perfect balance between production and musicianship. You can tell that Chuck Eaton and his crew take great care of how the music is played, and sung. It’s not transcendental or groundbreaking; it’s just simple and effective mood-creating melodies. This resembles one of those sleeves you would have proudly pulled out from the “Adult Contemporary” section in your local record store during the seventies. Clean, honest and pure music, with no cursing or parental advisory warnings!
This is the perfect music to turn the lights down and relax to. Although it has a number of up-tempo tracks like “Private Sky”, “What Went So Wrong”, “Pretty Queen”, “What Has Made You Change” and “Till I get a true love”, it is still an album that wraps itself around you, cocooning you in an envelope of classy ballads.
Reach out for your favorite nightcap then play through tracks like, “Why Don’t You Come To My Arms”, “One More Reason”, “Stupid Heart”, “It Was Not By Accident” and “Songs Like This” to set your loving mood before bedtime.
Chuck Eaton is a gifted artist who is quite adept at mixing musical styles and creating a wide array of moods, tones and settings. This collection is certainly no exception. Chuck has a powerful sense of melody – the songs are beautifully crafted with lovely cord changes and arrangements to match.
Sit down, relax, put your headphones on, and just listen to the music. This collection of songs is a quality effort from a veteran songwriter who still has something to say (especially about love). It is direct, sincere, and has Chuck Eaton writing from the heart and singing like it all matters.

Even if you know little about Chuck Eaton, but are into “Adult Contemporary” easy-listening music, I encourage you to listen to “Tracks” with an open mind. I’m confident you will not regret the time you invest.

It would seem there is a time and place for everything within the world of music. That being said, if feel-good love songs and easy listening are your thing, Sao Paulo singer/songwriter Chuck Eaton delivers with his sophomore effort, Lights—14-tracks of emotive lyrical matter over a myriad of clever instrumentation. Going into the album, try to think of “fireplace and glass of wine with someone special” music.
The album opens to “That’s All We Need” with clever electric riff work over an eerie synth background. Reflective lyrics lay just above backing synth-generated strings that reinforce the love song ethos of the track. It only strays from the genre briefly with a soaring guitar solo at the midpoint. “Drenched with Rain” is an up-tempo acoustic strum fest with tropicalia percussion and acoustic/electric guitar interplay. Lyrically, the track is reminiscent of a Jimmy Buffet tune while the catchy electric riff works throughout sounds of a Dire Straits song. The storytellings lyrical matter is vivid while the musicality if good and vast. Title track “Lights” opens to dreamy synth and ethereal lyrics with the gradual advent of acoustic picking and strums. The demure vocal delivery adds to the semi hypnotic vein in which this track runs. Finally, “What Really Matters” is another down tempo love song with the heartstring, contemplative lyrics. The tandem of acoustic strums and picking shows that beyond songwriting Eaton’s prowess with guitar is present as well. Musically, the track is marked by simplicity allowing the lyrics and vocal delivery to stand at the foreground.
First things first, this record is not going to be for everyone. But again, if the love song, easy listening camp is right up your alley, then this is a very good representation of the genre. It is apparent that Eaton’s focus lies in his songwriting; but the ability and versatility of his musicianship should be noted as well. He knows his way around a guitar for sure and does well in song arrangement as well. As a whole, the album I well put together, contains well-written songs and well… it just may be the soundtrack any and every love story out there.

“One Million Words” is the excellent easy listening debut thirty years in the making from Brazilian artist Chuck Eaton. This album’s theme is love, as Eaton sings twelve original and romantic songs of love and passion, mood-setters written for lovers to listen to together. The entire album is written and performed by Eaton, which includes vocals and piano, guitar, and drum arrangements. These arrangements are solid with well-crafted piano work and terrific guitar solos, and show Eaton’s skill in musical layering. Eaton’s vocals are unique, sounding like a combination of an easy listening version of Paolo Nutini with traces of solo John Lennon. “One Million Words” is well-produced, and the entire album sounds clean and professional. “Wedding Rings” begins with a nice piano, drum, and guitar arrangement, then moves into a song about falling in love and begging for forgiveness. “Our Love Is Precious” starts with a great electric guitar solo over acoustic guitar and drums, and features more catchy and heartfelt lyrics about falling in love. Overall, “One Million Words” is a great love-themed album well worth the wait. Anyone who enjoys poppy, easy listening songs about love should check out “One Million Words.”
