Yes, I have to admit I am still Midem green. This will be my first year attending one of the largest music industry conferences in the world.

If it comes down to promoting gigs many venue managers and musicians rely on the power of word of mouth and leaflets. They would love to get a piece of the action online but where to start and what to do? How to tell more people to grab their coats and visit your gig?

Last week iTunes announced the comeback of the LP in digital format. Old songs get their second life in video games like Guitar Hero. And mobile apps like TheGigMap give you instant access to live gigs around the corner. Innovation in music is all around us; via digital and multimedia channels they tap into new markets.

As you know our Tribe is all about connecting and sharing. We like to facilitate all the tools to collaborate with musicians worldwide, generate business contacts, valuable exposure and new revenue models.

Meeting New Friends at the line-up presentation of 'De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE! 2010' - one of the greatest musical events in The Netherlands, where over the past few years already 600,000 people enjoyed live music performed by only the best from the Dutch music industry.

Although CD sales are down there is still a lot to be gained by connecting musicians directly to company sponsors. Re/Max sponsored artist Dereck Rose was recently picked by an international jury consisting of Arne Frager who hosted the illustrious Metallica in his studio, Gary Platt founder of Full Sail University,  Mike Linksvayer VP of Creative Commons Worldwide and Sem Bakker, nineties bass hero who played the major European concert stages.

The One Billion Fans Final begins today! All top 10 finalists sent in their forms in time. The upcoming weeks it's up to our jury. But who are these brave members of the jury responsible for the first ever One Billion Fans Contest WINNER?
