Clarke, thanks so much for the comments on my guitarring.   For the fx track, "Ripple" used a Peavey Detonator.  It's not a very good guitar off the shelf, but I modified it quite a bit.  Wilkinson floating bridge, graphite nut.  For the fx, I had the Tone knob on 2, and the amp's bass all the way up.  I also used a super thick pick (2 mm?) and a really heavy brass slide.   When playing slide, the rule is heavier + thicker = better tone.   That's my humble rule anyway.  When mixing the track, I added a LOT of reverb.  Way more than usual, to give it the huge cave-style echo.
